|Mark Steege, LCSW, LPC, and his wife Syl, BSN, RN, have been certified as Sex Therapists by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists , (AASECT). They have over 40 years of experience as professionals, over 20 of which has been spent in providing sexual education and counseling to individuals and couples. For the last 12 plus years they have been evaluating, educating, and treating individuals with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder in regard to sexually appropriate and inappropriate behavior.
For the last 10 plus years they have been joined by Shannon Peck, MS, LPC, also certified as a Sex Therapist. Shannon has had prior experience as an elementary school teacher and has now had extensive experience working with the sexual behavior of individuals with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
Both Shannon and Mark have been frequent presenters at local, regional, and national conferences as well as serving as consultants for a variety of agencies, state schools, and group homes. They are both in private practice and regularly deal with the sexual problems of all types of individuals.
They are firmly committed to the belief that each person has the right to enjoy their sexuality and to express it in safety. Unfortunately, without accurate and adequate sex education, this is not likely to happen.
